The Story of the Piece

c. 1900

A charming turn-of-the-century 14K yellow gold crescent moon brooch centered by a 0.25-carat old mine cut diamond and accented with 54 seed pearls. The pierced gold crescent is detailed with pearl-set floral elements and a delicate outer border of seed pearls.

Designed to be worn as either a brooch or pendant, it retains its original pin back and folding pendant bail. Crescent moon jewelry was especially popular in Victorian and Edwardian jewelry, often carrying associations with femininity, change, and new beginnings.
