The Story of the Piece
English, c. 1910s
A beautiful Edwardian five-stone ring in 18K yellow gold, set with three deep blue lab created sapphires alternating with two Old European cut diamonds. The stones are framed by delicate pierced goldwork and scrolling details, giving the ring the ornate yet graceful character so distinctive of the Edwardian period.
The antique-cut diamonds have the softer, lively look of hand-cut stones, while the rich blue sapphires provide a striking contrast against the warm gold. This ring was made in England, but a previous resizing has removed portions of the original hallmark, including the date letter. Because of this, we cannot determine the exact year it was made, though its construction and style place it comfortably in the Edwardian period, circa the 1910s.
