The Story of the Piece
Mid-Century, c. 1940s–1950s
A sweet little puffy heart charm in sterling silver. Its hollow construction keeps it lightweight, making it an easy addition to a charm bracelet or delicate chain.
The decorative front side has a raised, repoussé-like quality, with curling motifs worked into the silver for a bit of depth and texture. The reverse is smooth and blank, stamped STERLING.
Puffy heart charms became popular sentimental jewelry pieces during the early-to-mid 20th century, often worn on charm bracelets or given as small tokens of affection. Examples from the 1940s and 1950s commonly feature hollow construction and decorative repousse or scrollwork, much like this one.
